After more than a decade of advertising for corporate America, I started to feel the gravitational pull toward work with deeper meaning and purpose. Work that is more aligned in my own personal values. Enter Verdant Creatures. Creatures is a creative collective that I formed with the mission of driving positive change for the planet through creativity.
Verdant conjures up nature, flora, environmental forward-thinking while creatures describes the variety of unique and individual members of the creative collective. Together we can make impart positive change through creativity. We are all Verdant Creatures.
I enlisted the help of a talented design friend, Ethan Fender. Under my creative and art direction he created an amazing suite of nature-inspired icons and glyphs. With that I was off and running. I developed the logotype and typography, the various color palettes; each inspired by the 5 biomes of Earth (Forest, Grassland, Desert, Tundra and Aquatic).
I assembled a brand guide, intro deck and built the website, recruiting a slew of amazing artists and creative collaborators who have already established themselves in the world of nature, animals, and outdoor illustration and design.
Building Verdant Creatures has been a labor of love, and I look forward to seeing this brand continue to evolve.
